Our Mission Statement

“We are a community church, bringing the good news of Jesus Christ and serving this community in his love.”

ABOUT OUR CHURCH

Visitors are always welcome to our churchyard and church.   The church is open to the public between about 9.30am - 4.00pm every day (often later in summer), though of course funerals, weddings, and Sunday services must be allowed for.  A list of ‘Monumental Inscriptions’ giving names, dates etc. on our gravestones and memorials was compiled by the Bedfordshire Family History Society after a survey in 1994.   If visiting from a distance or with a tight schedule advance notice of your enquiry or interest can prove invaluable.

YOUTH MINISTRIES

A family service is held once a month and on some occasions, these involve ‘Messy Church’ style activities. For instance, on Mothering Sunday children have fun making posies for their mums, cards, cake decoration etc. in the church during the service time.

Further activities with the children and young people, such as Easter Cracked, Christmas Cracked, a mock wedding, school services etc. are jointly organised with the village lower and middle schools.

On Advent Sunday we traditionally hold our Christingle service which is eagerly anticipated by the young children of the village. So much so that we now have to run 2 services to accommodate the high numbers.

Currently, during the weekly 10:30 services, a small number of dedicated parishioners provide activities for young children (<5 years old) present during the services.

ABOUT US

The parish of St Peter and St Paul has a small but active congregation with typically 40-45 regular communicants. At special services like Easter and Christmas Eve we would expect many more, regularly exceeding 150, especially as we join with the Methodist and Baptist churches in the village for those services.
